Prevention For Disease Control And Prevention Essay

The amount of tobacco products used everyday in the world has grown enormously. An article titled, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states, â€Å"an estimated 4.6 million middle and high school students were current users of any tobacco products† (Neff 2015). With the amounts increasing each year, something needs to be done to help decrease the number and stop it from increasing any higher. Even when tobacco is not being used directly, it can affect people and animals. The smoke that is left out in the air can be brought into other people’s lungs for them to breath, which is just as dangerous as smoking it yourself. Another way that smoke can affect people is when it is in contact with clothing or furniture. This is known as third hand smoke and it is also dangerous for people not using tobacco products. When innocent people are in contact with tobacco from other users, the amount of money spent for medical bills for cancer and other related diseases increases . These amounts could decrease if there is a way to get people to stop smoking, or to at least help them decrease the amount of tobacco they are using. To ask people to stop smoking all together is harder than it looks. Regular smokers are addicted to the nicotine that cigarettes have. To quit would mean that they are giving up that part of their life and for most that can be too much to ask. When looking at all the negative effects that smoking brings, some want to quit, but they cannot find the ways to do it.Show MoreRelatedCenters for Disease Control and Prevention629 Words   |  3 PagesCenters for Disease Control and Prevention Weam Khadim PBHE501-American Public University May 21, 2013 Dr. Shalah Watkins-Bailey Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Center for Disease Control and Prevention is a national public health federal agency under Department of Health and Human Services headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Ryan Strassburger SAE Coming Of Age October 10, 1996 A Lesson Before D Essay Example For Students

Ryan Strassburger SAE Coming Of Age October 10, 1996 A Lesson Before D Essay ying In A Lesson Before Dying, Mr. Grant Wiggins life crises were the center of the story. Although he was supposed to make Jefferson into a man, he himself became more of one as aresult. Not to say that Jefferson was not in any way transformed from the hog he was into an actual man, but I believe this story was really written about Mr. Wiggins.Mr. Wiggins improved as a person greatly in this book, and that helped his relationshipswith other people for the most part. At the start of the book, he more or less hated Jefferson, butafter a while he became his friend and probably the only person Jefferson felt he could trust. Theturning point in their relationship was the one visit in which Jefferson told Mr. Wiggins that hewanted a gallon of ice cream, and that he never had enough ice cream in his whole life. At thatpoint Jefferson confided something in Mr. Wiggins, something that I didnt see Jefferson doingoften at all in this book.I saw a slight smile come to his face, and it was not a bitter smile. Not bitter at all; thisis the first instance in which Jefferson breaks his somber barrier and shows emotions. At thatpoint he became a man, not a hog. As far as the story tells, he never showed any sort of emotionbefore the shooting or after up until that point. A hog cant show emotions, but a man can. Thereis the epiphany of the story, where Mr. Wiggins realizes that the purpose of life is to help makethe world a better place, and at that time he no longer minds visiting Jefferson and beginsbecoming his friend. Mr. Wiggins relationship with his Aunt declined in this story, although it was never very strong. His Aunt treated him like he should be a hog and always obey, yet she wanted him tomake a hog into a man. His Aunt was not a very nice person, she would only show kindnesstowards people who shared many of her views, and therefore was probably a very hard person toget along with. The way Mr. Wiggins regarded his relationships most likely would have been differentwere he white. Mr. Wiggins feels, and rightly so, that several white men try to mock or make afool of him throughout the story. This was a time of racial discrimination with much bigotry, so ifthe story took place in the present, it would be much different. In fact, there probably would havenot even been a book because in the modern day, and honest and just jury would have found himinnocent due to the lack of evidence. It wasnt really clear what sort of situation Mr. Wiggins was in regarding money, but he could not have been too well off because he needed to borrow money to purchase a radio forJefferson, and he commented about the Rainbow Cafe: When I was broke, I could always get ameal and pay later, and the same went for the bar. I suppose he had enough money to get by,but not much extra. As the book progresses he probably had less money to work with due to themoney he was spending to buy the radio, comic books, and other items for Jefferson.Mr. Wiggins seemed to be well respected by the community, and he felt superior to otherAfrican Americans because he was far more educated than they were. That makes Mr. Wigginsguilty of not practicing what he preaches, although Jefferson probably made it clearer to himthat the less intelligent are still humans with feelings. At the start of the book, Mr. Wiggins didnot understand this. .uccd633ac6055e63cc2d3665380fb9d0e , .uccd633ac6055e63cc2d3665380fb9d0e .postImageUrl , .uccd633ac6055e63cc2d3665380fb9d0e .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uccd633ac6055e63cc2d3665380fb9d0e , .uccd633ac6055e63cc2d3665380fb9d0e:hover , .uccd633ac6055e63cc2d3665380fb9d0e:visited , .uccd633ac6055e63cc2d3665380fb9d0e:active { border:0!important; } .uccd633ac6055e63cc2d3665380fb9d0e .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uccd633ac6055e63cc2d3665380fb9d0e { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uccd633ac6055e63cc2d3665380fb9d0e:active , .uccd633ac6055e63cc2d3665380fb9d0e:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uccd633ac6055e63cc2d3665380fb9d0e .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uccd633ac6055e63cc2d3665380fb9d0e .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uccd633ac6055e63cc2d3665380fb9d0e .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uccd633ac6055e63cc2d3665380fb9d0e .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uccd633ac6055e63cc2d3665380fb9d0e:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uccd633ac6055e63cc2d3665380fb9d0e .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uccd633ac6055e63cc2d3665380fb9d0e .uccd633ac6055e63cc2d3665380fb9d0e-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uccd633ac6055e63cc2d3665380fb9d0e:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: The House Of Representatives By Alexander Hamilton Essay He went to visit Jefferson because Miss Emma and his Aunt more or lessforced him to do it. He really had no motivation except that he would be shunned by his Aunt ifhe did not comply. The whole process of Mr. Wiggins development and the plot of this story both spawnfrom the crimes of two characters with no other relevance to the story. After the police foundJefferson at the liquor store with the dead bodies all around, he was of course taken to trial andthe times being what they were, he was convicted with very little doubt that he would be foundinnocent. Miss Emma, his godmother was afraid that he would die a hog and have lived ameaningless life. She wanted him Not to crawl to the white man, but to get up and walk to himat the end. At first Mr. Wiggins was not very concerned about Jefferson, he just wanted to pass thetime he had to spend with him, but then after a while he began to think of what it would feel like to be a dead man, and what he could do to make the time Jefferson had left to be the best theycould for him. This was the greatest achievement Mr. Wiggins accomplished in the entire book.He managed to be able to have pity upon Jefferson without empathy. After the point in which hediscussed the ice cream and the radio with Jefferson, and Jefferson admitted for the first time thathe was more than a hog, Mr. Wiggins truly cared. Mr. Wiggins developed greatly during the course of this story, along with othercharacters featured in the story. Vivian met new people and increased the quality of herrelationship with Mr. Wiggins, Miss Emma finally got to see someone stand for her, Tante Loulearned that she had a decent nephew after all, and Jefferson got off of his four legs and stood. The End!

Corporate Advances Accounting and Reporting

Question: Discuss about the Corporate Advances Accounting and Reporting. Answer: Introduction: In accounting, entries consisting of the for-profit as well as non-profit company include several types of assets. Such assets can be segmented in several sections and they can either be generated by or employed for everydays operational conducts of the organizations that are deemed current assets. Fixed assets are deemed to be the ones those can be employed for over many financial years. Other than the fixed and the current assets, ample organizations include several intellectual properties that include copyright assets, trademarks and many more (Fernandes et al. 2016). This also includes assets that have emerged from the acquisition of numerous organizations or from the popularity among the consumers along with brand and goodwill. Such assets can be directly employed for gaining more revenue that also facilitates the organizations to enhance the companys profit or revenue. Numerous assets those does not seem physical and are impossible to be gauged in units are considered as intang ible assets. Such assets are maintained in the books of the organization as per the sum append in order to purchase certain assets. Conversely, it has been noticed that along with the time that real value of the assets starts to decrease considerably. The accounting companies employs impairment at the time the real value along with decreased amount is presented along with impairment A/c. certain loss for this decrease in the asset value is deemed as impairment loss. The asset value alterations based on several factors and there exists certain common aspects those are applicable in numerous assets, however, certain factors results in decreasing the value of certain particular assets (Olante 2013). Vales of the tools, equipments and machineries rely on its uses and manufacturing capability. The more such assets are employed for the production the more it is likely that its upcoming production capability might decrease. However, because of the emergence of modern equipments and machineries, several older equipments and machineries decreases its high market value along with turning out to be obsolete. The land value gradually increases with time. It can also decrease because of the transformation of the locality importance, emergence of new cities, over population and changes in the public or political centers and so on. The patent rights along with the trademarks tend to decrease value after emergence of modern technology or alterations in consumer choices. Goodwill serves as additional value that is falsified while any organizational acquisition. At the time the value of the acquired assets reduces, the goodwill value in purchasing such assets also decreases considerably. In the recent era, the organizations need to signify the financial reports as per the stakeholder needs. Several stakeholders encompass distinct interest types in the organization. They evaluate the fiscal reports from numerous point-of-views. The accounting standards board along with the government signifies huge importance on the shareholders interest (Andrews 2012). For this reason, they desire that the organizations financial reports particularly of the listed organizations must represent fair and accurate values of liabilities and assets. An organization might have acquired expensive machinery before five years. In the recent era, the machinerys market value has turned out to be half of its areal cost because of emergence of modern machineries at low prices. Moreover, if an organization presents the cost price of certain machinery in financial report then it can indicate all assts at over-valued prices ad for this reason this cannot be able to reflect the organizations true and fair value. The stakeholders those are interested in valuation of assets of organization for investment that can consider it to be an efficient investment option. If the organizations does not indicate the assets fair value and for this reason the shareholders can take faulty decisions relied on over-valued financial statements. For gaining the stakeholders interest, the accounting standards boards has presented the impairment concept. The accounting standard and the government have offered clear instruction for asset impairment along with generating financial statements after introducing several accounting standards and government policies (Avallone and Quagli 2015). The impairment takes place at the time the assets carrying amount is increased than its recoverable amount. Carrying amount is recorded in the assts books of accounts. It can be explained as the assets regarding the amount of accounting. Such amount explains the asset cost that has been purchased and the asset value and depreciating it in consideration to suitable depreciation techniques. There are two types of recoverable amounts and an organization can select the asset fair value to be as recoverable amount after reducing the required expenses that is anticipated to be experienced by an asset. Another recoverable amount can be the value of assets. Value can be explained as the net cash flow that is anticipated to be collected from asset in upcoming years. If the two values are present in accordance to IAS 36, it is effective in choosing higher among the two values (Rennekamp et al. 2014). Considering IAS 36, impairment loss can be measured through reducing the asset recoverable amount from the asset-carrying amount. Impairment less is debited in accordance to the respective asset for reducing the asset book value and maintains the asset accounting amount has decreased value. Such impairment loss is adjusted with the P/L account along with income statement at the year-end and this is depicted as non-operating loss within income statement. If the organization sustains Revaluation Surplus A/c then the Impairment Loss A/c can be credited with Revaluation Surplus A/c, which directly decreases the overall shareholder equity amount. For an asset group that is generally considered as Cash Generating Units that encompass the goodwill generated from such assets acquisition, the impairment loss is not adjusted accordingly. It was gathered that the overall value of the CGU units requires being impaired and in such scenario, the impairment loss can be calculated as the aforementioned method (Komissarov et al. 2014). Moreover, it was adjusted along with the Goodwill A/c. If certain balance is left after adjusting with the goodwill, then the balance amount is aligned with CGU assets relied on the asset book value. Pierre Trudeau essays He will be forever known as the man who dared to pirouette behind Queen Elizabeth II on national television, capturing the hearts of Canadians. With his strong political background, his undying love for his country, and his loyalty to the welfare of the Canadian people, Pierre Trudeau became one of Canadas best leaders. He was the man who established Canada as a well structured, developed, and respectable country. Born Joseph Philippe Ives Elliot Trudeau in Montreal, he grew up speaking both English and French. Always interested in the law and politics, he always worked hard and went to only the best schools. He earned a degree at College Jean de Brebeuf, studied law at Harvard, political science at Ecole des Sciences Politiques in Paris, and economics at the London School of Economics. Discussion questions - Essay Example I believe sources are reliable when the author is qualified to write it. Either he is educated in that field or has relevant experience. For example, Dr. Howard Gardner is qualified to write a book on Psychology because he is a psychologist by training and education. He also contributed big time to the field of Psychology. Consider also that the late Dr. Maxwell Maltz was a plastic surgeon, but he wrote books on the psychology of a person’s self-image since it is as aspect touched in his work. Whenever he performs plastic surgery, either his client’s self-image improves or remains the same. Sources can be deemed credible if the information contained there make sense. Perhaps, the proper use of jargon and technical words indicates thorough knowledge of the subject. It is necessary for an expert to be precise so that terms are well stipulated and avoid misunderstanding. So, the researcher should be wary of the level of language used in a particular source. That would be indicative whether one is reliable or not. In general, blogs are unreliable sources. Any person can write anything in a blog without necessarily having the qualification to state his or her opinion about a topic in an entry. Exceptions to this rule of thumb would be experts who want to publish an opinion immediately with going to the process of peer review or editorial review. For this particular blog, this is fairly acceptable and reliable. The author has relevant experience in politics as a journalist. Although, I will try to find his opinion elsewhere in more reliable sources such as books or journal articles before using this. In a similar argument with blogs, Wiki sites should not be used as sources. Wiki sites, however, can be useful in the start of the research by priming the researcher into the basics of an issue. If there are sources footnoted, the researcher could look into them and cite those instead. They are probably more reliable than
